Industry Buzzwords Column #5: Responsive Websites (With Shining Examples)

We’ve a quick buzzword here today on Retail Radar, which refers to websites: responsive. With more and more companies turning to the web and Ecommerce to sell their wares, it’s inevitably spawned an onslaught of online jargon.

Put simply, websites that are responsive are reactive – they’ll automatically adapt to the size of your screen. It’s easy to tell which aren’t built for more mobile devices like tablets and phones, as you’ll usually have to zoom in on parts of the screen to view text, or scroll across to read more of the page. Meanwhile, responsive websites grow and shrink in scale according to the confines in which they’re being viewed – and that’s even true of the size of your browser on a desktop or netbook.
